Day
1 - Exmouth to Karijini (C)
We head inland today towards the oasis that is Karijini. We
will take on extra provisions in the iron ore mining town
of Tom Price this afternoon before setting up our camp overlooking
the magnificent Hamersley Range, hopefully with time to witness
a spectacular sunset.
(LD)
Day
2 - Karijini National Park (C)
You will see why we have allowed the next two days to explore
and bask in the magnificence of this National Park area and
it's Gorges. The Hamersley Ranges were formed over 2,500 million
years ago and are some of the most unusual landforms on earth.
From cascading waterfalls found deep in the gorges to fresh
still pools ideal for swimming, we experience it all. Some
of the gorges are so narrow that you can touch both sides
at once.
(BLD)
Day 3 - Karijini National Park (C)
Another day in the spectacular Karijini exploring more of
the amazing gorges. You may take the adventure into Hancock
and Weano Gorges, explore Joffre Falls or take a dip in the
magnificent Circular Pool. No doubt, it will be an adventure
that will blow you away.
(BLD)
Day 4 - Karijini to Gt Northern Highway (SS)
We start the day with a short drive out to Auski Roadhouse
before beginning our drive south down the Great Northern Highway.
We pass through the iron ore mecca of the north - Newman and
pass through many of the large sheep stations of the region,
some over 1 million acres in size. We share our last night
together at one of the vast stations in this area.
(BLD)
Day
5 - Gt Northern Highway to Perth
Today is the last day of our Karijini adventure. Leaving early
we head off down the highway to the gold mining town of Mt
Magnet. A short break and once more when are on our way to
Perth. As the kilometres slip by we soon find ourselves in
the wheat and sheep farming districts north east of Perth.
Early afternoon will find us at the picturesque town of New
Norcia built as a mission by Benedictine monks in the 1840's.
Here we have time for a short break and a chance to take in
the atmosphere of this unique town. As the day draws to a
close we finally arrive in Perth completing a memorable 5
day journey.
